The second Euro-Mediterranean Conference, Didim, Turkey, 10-12 May 2018

On 10-12 May 2018, the second Euro-Mediterranean Conference of the Workers in the Metal Sector was held, but not only. The trade unions of the countries of the Mediterranean region, including Albania, represented by the Trade Union Federation of Industrial Workers of Albania (FSPISH), participated in this conference.

This conference was very significant and initiated a close regional cooperation by presenting joint projects with other participating countries. Also, in this Conference was called for a right and sustainable development throughout the Mediterranean Region. Achieving these goals is possible because of the very necessary and meaningful role of the Trade Unions. Another strong call The European Union’s Conference gave more attention to the Trade Unions of the Mediterranean Region. Another initiative was also the task of a special commissioner, who would be in cooperation with the countries in the region, and secondly, the production of a specific emigration policy for the region, to support refugees and the creation of human corridors between the host countries and bringing countries. At the end of the conference, it was agreed on a unanimous call for the immediate release of former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as part of solidarity with the European Trade Unions.
